Warriors Playoff Run ends

It's just taken me several days to acknowledge that it's over, but it is. While I wish that the Warriors were still in it, I'm still really thrilled at how well the Warriors did and I'm looking forward to next year, hoping that Don Nelson comes back and that the team is still close to intact.

Warriors Playoff Update

I haven't been very good about posting regularly on the Warriors, but you know how it's been going! I'll just list my highlights:

1. Beating the Mavs in 6. Dirk who???
2. Baron's dunk over Andrei Kirilenko (also known as AK-47) in Game 3 in Oakland.
3. Agonizing through the first two games in Utah with friends in student bars in Minnesota. My boss and colleagues are shown above.
4. Derek Fisher's uplifting story. Okay, so he's on the wrong team now, but he was always a class act, and everyone wishes him the best for his family.
5. Listening to the announcers on ESPN talk about Davis. It's good to see the Warriors get national attention.
6. Matt Barnes's new tattoo.
7. Stephen Jackson stepping up.
8. Andris Biedrins' rebounds.
9. Sarunas Jasikevicius cheering on the sidelines. He doesn't fit into Nellie's system, but he's really into the team.
10. Adonal Foyle getting into a playoff game. Put Foyle in! Put Foyle in!

Warriors destroy Knicks on Valentine's Day

It was good to see the Warriors do so well although they did try to blow the big lead in the fourth quarter. I was at the game with Dara, and I spent most of the game trying to ignore the conversation between the guy who was trying to hit on her and her. Having a teenager is hard!

The All-Star game

Why do we even care? No Warriors in a playoff game or an all-star game. But at least Monta goes to the rookie challenge or whatever it is.

Two bad losses

Well, the new look Warriors don't look so different on the road. Even with LeBron on the sidelines in streetclothes, they still lose by 27 points. And then losing by 21 to Atlanta. Shudder!!!

The new warriors

So after a slow start, the new look Warriors have won two in a row. They won the first won in dramatic fashion, with Monta Ellis getting the winning bucket at the buzzer against the Nets. They got their second victory by beating the crap out of the Charlotte Bobcats. My two daughters went to the Nets game. It was Dara's first Warriors game, and she had a great time. She now thinks she should marry a professional basketball player (it should work, after all, she's 5'10") and she's now picking between Monta Ellis, Matt Barnes and Andris Biedrins. I tried to get her interested in Adam Morrison when we were watching the Bobcats, but she just wouldn't bite. I think Barnes is too old for her, but at least he went to a UC, and apparently he has a degree in history, which should give them something to talk about. After all she's always reading those books about Henry VIII. We'll see how it works for her.

The trade

My 11-year-old daughter was upset with the trade, not for any real basketball reasons, but mostly because she thinks Troy Murphy is cute. I tried to tell her that her Troy Murphy jersey is now a collector item, but that didn't console her. Now she's firmly in the anti-Nelly camp. Oh well. We go Wednesday to see the new-look Warriors vs. the Nets. Too bad they lost the game last night, but hey, Baron Davis was suspended or something, so what do you expect.
